Meeting Posting Requirements


Please Note: "The Open Meeting Law requires all meetings of a public body be posted at least 48 hours prior to such meeting, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays."

Please Remember: The Town Clerk's Office closes at Noon on Fridays. Any posting sent afternoon on a Friday will not be considered "posted" until we receive it on Monday morning (or the first day of return if a long weekend).

  • Example: A meeting posting received by the Town Clerk's Office on a Monday morning, 8 am would not meet the Open Meeting Law requirements for any meeting being held before 8 am on Wednesday morning. If there is a Monday holiday, the earliest a meeting can take place is Thursday morning, 8 am. Please call the Town Clerk's Office with any questions at 508-366-3020!

When posting a meeting please email it to the Town Clerk.

Always check to be sure your meeting has been posted by:

  • View the Town Calendar to account for the accurate date placement of the posting!
  • Check your email for a response from Town Clerk's Office that it has been posted.

If you find the meeting is not on the calendar, please call the Town Clerk's Office at 508-366-3020.

When to Post a Legal Meeting to: All Town Boards and Committees

Posting by: To have your meeting on: 
Monday of the following week
Friday (Before Noon)Tuesday of the following week

Please note: If there is a Holiday, move your posting date back by 1 day.

Mass General Law requires a meeting to be posted at least 48 hours in advance. All postings require the date, time, and place of the meeting, along with an agenda. Please be sure to check the time you are posting your meeting to allow the Town Clerk's Office sufficient time to actually post it.
